What about lead in paint?

Houses painted before 1971 may have paint that contains high levels of lead. Modern household paints contain less than .1% lead. Lead in paint is only a danger once it is disturbed. Consider  repainting the substrate without disturbing the original surface. If the painted surfaces need major sanding and preparation, it is often cheaper to simply replace them. Ask your GreenPainter if they have been trained in lead paint management, and ask them to conduct an inexpensive lead test
